## How do you say “and” in Chinese?

和 and 跟 join nouns only: 我和你 (you and me). They don’t join two actions or sentences: for “and then” use 然后, for “and also” 而且, and often nothing at all: 我吃饭，看电视 (I eat and watch TV).

## Do Chinese conjunctions come in pairs?

Often. Both halves are said: 因为…所以 (because … so), 虽然…但是 (although … but), 如果…就 (if … then), 不但…而且 (not only … but also). 虽然下雨，但是我们去了 is “although it rained, we went”.

## Where do conjunctions go in a Chinese sentence?

At the start of their part of the sentence, like in English, or right after its subject: 我因为下雨没去 (I didn’t go because it rained). The reason usually comes first, then the result.
