# 早发白帝城 Leaving Baidi at Dawn

Written as Li Bai was pardoned from exile: a light boat racing down the Yangtze gorges, a thousand li in a day.

zhāo朝cí辞bái白dì帝cǎi彩yún云jiān间，

At dawn I leave Baidi among the bright clouds;

qiān千lǐ里jiāng江líng陵yī一rì日huán还。

a thousand li to Jiangling, back in a single day.

liǎng两àn岸yuán猿shēng声tí啼bù不zhù住，

On both banks the apes cry without end,

qīng轻zhōu舟yǐ已guò过wàn万chóng重shān山。

and my light boat has passed ten thousand mountains.
