# Chinese typing test

Type the pinyin of each word as fast as you can. Real HSK words, then your speed and the words you missed.

## How it works

Type the pinyin of the word in the box, then press Space or Enter. The clock starts with your first letter. Tones are up to you: _nihao_ counts, and so does _ni3hao3_, but a wrong tone number doesn’t. Type _v_ for _ü_: _nv3_ is 女.

## Your score

Characters a minute counts the Chinese characters in the words you got right, as Chinese typing speed is measured.

## Why type pinyin?

Pinyin is how almost everyone types Chinese on a phone or computer: you spell the sound and choose the characters. Fast, accurate pinyin is fast Chinese typing, and every word you type here is one you hear in your head.
