How do you say happy birthday in Chinese?

生日快乐 (shēngrì kuàilè). The birthday song is 祝你生日快乐 (zhù nǐ shēngrì kuàilè), sung to the same tune as in English. For anyone older, add a wish for their health: 祝你身体健康.

What do you write in a Chinese birthday card?

One wish that fits the person, with 生日快乐: 天天开心 (be happy every day) for a friend, 学业进步 (progress in your studies) for a student, 身体健康 (good health) or 福如东海,寿比南山 for a grandparent, and 永远十八岁 (forever eighteen) for a friend who would rather not count.

Why is 寿 on the card?

寿 (shòu) is a long life, the birthday’s own character. Long-life noodles (长寿面, chángshòu miàn) are eaten on birthdays, and an older person’s sixtieth, seventieth and eightieth are 大寿 (dà shòu), big birthdays, with peach-shaped buns (寿桃, shòutáo) for a long life.

Can the card write their name in Chinese?

Yes, for 514 common English names, written as Chinese writes them: David is 大卫 (Dàwèi). For any other name, our Chinese name generator makes one from its sounds.
