How is the level found?
The text is cut into words the way a reader would, and each word gets its level from the official HSK 3.0 word list (2021). The text’s level is the lowest one at which a reader would know 95% of its running words. Names and numbers don’t count. Above HSK 6 it reads HSK 6+.
What are the words to learn first?
The words above the text’s level, and words outside the HSK lists, that come up most in this text. Learn them first and the rest of the text gets much easier. Each one is a word with a confirmed meaning; we never list a guess.
Why 95%?
Readers follow a text comfortably when they know about 95 of every 100 words in it. Below that, the unknown words start to hide the meaning.
Is my text kept?
No. Our server reads your text to measure it and keeps none of it. Saving a word keeps that word with its sentence in your Backpack.
