Tone practice
Hear a real word, say it, and see your tones drawn over a native speaker’s.

Two syllables · HSK 1–2
Press Hear it, then hold Say it and say the word.
How it works
Every word is a real HSK 1–4 word, said by one of the two voices in the app’s word cards. When you say it, the page measures your pitch every hundredth of a second and draws it over the speaker’s, then checks each syllable: does it rise, fall or stay level where hers does, and does it sit higher or lower than the syllable before it?
Why your line won’t match exactly
Every voice is different, and a deep voice and a high one move by different amounts. What matters is the shape: where it rises, falls or stays level, and where the second syllable starts. Your try is compared with the clip you just heard, so its tone changes count too: 你好 is said ní hǎo.
Your voice stays here
The page asks for the microphone only when you first press Say it. It measures your pitch in this browser; nothing is recorded, kept or sent.
Keys
Space hears it again, hold S to say it, N for the next word.
