A free class for your Chinese students

Make a class in one press and send its link. Students read graded stories at their HSK level, tap any word for its meaning and hear it read aloud, and you see who read what.

How it works

  1. Make the class. Pick its HSK level and it starts with five readings written for that level. Add or remove any of 407 Library readings.
  2. Send one link. Post it in your class chat or learning platform. Students read on any phone or computer, with nothing to install.
  3. See who read what. Students who join show on your page with the class readings they finished, the words they keep and their last Review.

Why not a school plan?

Du Chinese for Schools, The Chairman’s Bao and iChineseReader sell class plans to schools by quote. This class costs nothing, needs no purchase order, and is ready before your next lesson. Every reading is on the 2025 HSK syllabus, and each has a handout to print too.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. Making a class, its readings and the progress page are free, with no limit on how often your class reads.

Do students need an account?

Not to read: anyone with the link opens the class’s readings and taps any word for its meaning and sound. To show on your progress page, a student joins with a free account, so joining suits students 13 and over; younger students can read from the link without joining.

What do I see about each student?

Only their name (their account’s name, or the one they type), which of the class’s readings they finished, how many words they keep, the last day they did Review and the last day they were here. Never which words, what else they read, or their email. They can leave the class at any time.

Can I post the class in Google Classroom?

Yes. Press Share to Google Classroom beside the class link and post it as an assignment or announcement; it works the same in any class chat or learning platform. Students open it, press Join the class once, and they show on your page.

Which readings can I give my class?

Any of the Library’s stories and articles written for the class’s HSK level on the 2025 syllabus. The class starts with five; add or remove any. Each one also has a handout to print.
