How do you introduce yourself in Chinese?
Start with 大家好 (dàjiā hǎo, hello everyone), then your name with 我叫 (wǒ jiào, my name is), where you’re from with 我是…人 (wǒ shì … rén), what you do, what you like with 我喜欢 (wǒ xǐhuan), and end with 很高兴认识大家 (hěn gāoxìng rènshi dàjiā, nice to meet you all). Pick yours above and each line is made for you, with its pinyin and English.
How do I say my name in Chinese?
Most Western names have a set Chinese form chosen for its sound, such as 莎拉 (Shālā) for Sarah, and that is the one used here. A name without one gets a Chinese-style name made from its sounds, the kind a teacher would give you; our Your name in Chinese page has more of both.
How do I practise saying it?
Press Start and say each line aloud. Your browser’s Mandarin speech recognition writes down what it heard and each word is marked heard or missed; once every word is heard, the next line comes. Hear it says the line for you first, and From English hides the Chinese so you say it from memory.
Is this good for a class or an interview?
It is the self-introduction most beginner classes and HSK 1 to 2 speaking tasks ask for. For an interview, add what you studied or your work, and say it until every word is heard first time.
Where does my voice go?
To your browser’s speech service: Chrome sends it to Google and Edge to Microsoft to be recognised; Safari uses Apple’s. We receive only the text it heard, to mark the words, and keep nothing. Firefox has no speech recognition, so there you can read and hear it but not be checked.
