English (for the teacher)
Today my boyfriend David came to my family's home for dinner for the first time.
There were ten dishes on the table. Grandma said, “David, eat up!” She put a piece of meat in his bowl.
David ate it. Mum said, “Here, try this!” She piled his bowl with food too.
David ate that too. Dad said, “This one's good!” And he gave him some as well.
David ate and ate, but his bowl was still full.
He asked me, “I don't want any more, but there's still food in my bowl. Do I have to eat it?”
I told him, “In my family, if you finish it, Grandma just gives you more.”
David looked at the food in his bowl and stopped eating.
Grandma saw, and smiled. “David's had enough!”
After dinner it was time to go. Grandma handed David a big lunch box: “This is your food for tomorrow!”
David looked at me and asked, “Do I have to finish this one too?”
