English (for the teacher)
1 January. Happy New Year! Today I went to the gym downstairs and bought a card: three thousand yuan for the year. I told myself, “This year I’m going to exercise for an hour every day!”
The first week, I went every day. I ran, I swam, I played basketball, and I cycled too. On the third day everything hurt and I walked very slowly, but I was happy.
The second week, I went three times. It was too cold, and in the mornings I didn’t want to get up.
The third week, I went once. I wore my gym clothes, took lots of photos inside and sent them to my friends. My friends said, “You’re amazing!” I didn’t tell them I only stood there for ten minutes.
The fourth week, I didn’t go once. Work was too busy, and when I got home in the evening all I wanted was sleep.
1 February. I told myself, “This can’t go on!” I put on my trainers and walked to the gym door.
There was a piece of paper on the door: “Sorry, we are closed for good.”
I stood at the door, thinking about my three thousand yuan. I was so angry that I ran all the way home from there.
Three kilometres, twenty minutes. It was my best day of exercise all month.
