English (for the teacher)
Kangkang is eight, and he lives in the south. Where he lives, winter isn’t cold, and it never snows.
This New Year, Kangkang and his mum and dad go to Grandma’s home in Beijing. When they get to Beijing, he asks Grandma, “Is it going to snow today?”
“No snow today.”
The next morning he asks, “What about today?”
“No snow today either.”
Day three, day four: still no snow. Kangkang isn’t happy.
On the fifth night, Kangkang is asleep. Grandma comes to wake him: “Kangkang, get up, quick! Look outside!”
Outside, everything is white. The ground is white, the trees are white, and the cars are white too.
Kangkang runs straight out. He picks up a little snow in his hand.
“Grandma! Snow is cold!”
He takes a cup and fills it with snow. “I’m giving Dandan snow from Beijing!”
Back home, he goes straight to see Dandan. Dandan is his best friend. Dandan opens the cup. Inside is water.
“Where’s the snow?” Dandan asks.
Kangkang looks into the cup and says, “Beijing snow doesn’t like the south. It’s too hot!”
