上班第一天
My first day at work: an easy Chinese story

今天是我第一天上班。七点半，我就到了公司。
我不认识这里的人，也不知道我的桌子在哪儿。
一个老先生看见了我：“你是新来的吧？跟我来。”
他带我找到了我的桌子，给我开了电脑，还给我拿了一杯热茶。
他还告诉我：“喝水在这儿，吃饭在楼下。”
我很高兴：“谢谢您！您在这儿工作很多年了吧？”
他笑了笑，没说什么。
九点，大家都来开会。老先生站在前边，说：“大家好，我是新来的老板。今天，也是我第一天上班。”
我问他：“那您怎么什么都知道？”
他小声说：“我六点就来了。”

Today is my first day at work. At half past seven I was already at the office.
I didn’t know anyone here, and I didn’t know where my desk was.
An old gentleman saw me. “You’re the new one, aren’t you? Come with me.”
He took me to my desk, switched on my computer and even brought me a cup of hot tea.
He also told me, “Water’s over here, and lunch is downstairs.”
I was so pleased. “Thank you! You must have worked here for years.”
He just smiled and didn’t say anything.
At nine, everyone came in for the meeting. The old gentleman stood at the front and said, “Hello, everyone, I’m the new boss. Today is my first day at work too.”
I asked him, “Then how do you know where everything is?”
He said quietly, “I got here at six.”
