English (for the teacher)
Hu Xiaoye is five this year. On Saturday morning she goes to the supermarket with her dad to do some shopping.
The supermarket is full of people, and full of things too. She looks at the apples, looks at the bread, and when she looks again, her dad isn't there!
A woman comes over and asks her, “Little one, what's your dad's name?”
She says, “His name is Dad.”
The woman says, “OK. So what does your dad look like?”
“My dad is tall, and handsome too.”
“How old is he?”
“Thirty-five.”
“What is he wearing?”
“New clothes!”
The woman calls out to everyone, “Excuse me, which dad is tall, handsome, thirty-five and wearing new clothes? Your daughter is here.”
A minute later a man arrives. He isn't tall, he's a bit chubby, and his clothes are new.
“Hu Xiaoye! Daddy's here!” he says, “Sorry, sorry! Thank you so much!”
The woman says, “You're welcome.” She looks him over and asks the little girl, “This is your dad? He's tall?”
She says, “Very tall!”
Dad lifts her up high, high in the air.
“See? My dad is tall!”
