English (for the teacher)
Xia Duoduo is eight this year. On Sunday, Mum said, “Today at lunchtime we're going to Auntie Tang's to eat.”
In the car, Mum asked, “If the food is good, how do you say it?” Xia Duoduo said, “Hǎochī — delicious!” “And if it's really, really good?” “Tài hǎochī le — so delicious!”
“What about milk?” Xia Duoduo thought for a moment: “Milk is hǎohē!” Mum said, “Right. For things you eat, say hǎochī; for things you drink, say hǎohē.”
Auntie Tang had made lots of food: on the table there were eggs, noodles, steamed buns, and rice too.
Xia Duoduo ate a bun: “Delicious!” Auntie Tang was very happy and gave her two buns.
Xia Duoduo ate a mouthful of noodles: “Really delicious!” Auntie Tang was extremely happy and gave her lots of noodles.
Xia Duoduo drank a sip of milk: “So good!” Auntie Tang was overjoyed and gave her a big glass of milk.
Xia Duoduo looked at the buns, looked at the noodles, looked at the milk.
Auntie Tang asked, “Is it good? Do you want anything else?”
Xia Duoduo said, “Delicious, delicious! Auntie Tang, I'm all done!”
On the way home, Xia Duoduo said to Mum, “Mum, at Auntie Tang's you mustn't say hǎochī — you can only say chī hǎo le, I'm done!”
