English (for the teacher)
Today a new classmate called Deng Xiaotian came to our school.
The teacher said, “Deng Xiaotian, at break time, ask your classmates about their hobbies and get to know everyone.”
The bell rang for break. Deng Xiaotian asked a boy, “What's your hobby?” “My hobby is singing!” He sang for ten minutes.
Deng Xiaotian asked a girl, “What do you like doing?” “I like reading; we have lots of books at home. What about you?” “I don't really like reading.”
He asked lots of classmates. Some liked watching films, some liked playing on their phones, and one said, “My hobby is studying!”
Deng Xiaotian saw Ye Xiaoyuan sitting there on her own, not talking and not playing. He asked, “Ye Xiaoyuan, what's your hobby?” Ye Xiaoyuan said, “I like sitting here on my own, doing nothing and not talking.” Deng Xiaotian was delighted: “Me too!”
The two of them sat there for ten minutes without saying a word.
When class started again, the teacher asked, “Deng Xiaotian, do you know everyone's hobbies now?” Deng Xiaotian said, “Yes! And I've made a new friend.”
“What did you talk about?” “Nothing. Her hobby is my hobby too!”
