English (for the teacher)

Today Dad bought a big fish. He said, “We’re having fish tonight!”

We have a cat called Tangtang. Tangtang loves fish more than anything.

Dad finished cooking dinner and put it on the table. Tangtang sat under the table, watching Dad. I sat at the table, waiting to eat.

Dad went to get the rice. “Why is a piece of fish missing?”

Dad looked at Tangtang. Tangtang looked at Dad: “Meow.”

Dad went to get the chopsticks. “Why is another piece missing?”

“Tangtang! Was it you? This is our dinner!” Tangtang looked at Dad and said nothing.

Dad went to call Mum. “Why is more than half of it gone?”

Dad was very cross: “Tangtang, no dinner for you today!”

Mum said, “Tangtang is so small. Can she really eat half a fish?”

Tangtang said nothing and looked at me.

I said nothing either. There was still a piece of fish in my mouth.
