English (for the teacher)
Sun Wukong had got the golden-hooped staff from the Dragon King of the East Sea, and he was very happy. Back on Flower Fruit Mountain, he treated everyone to food and drink. They ate all day and drank all day, and Sun Wukong drank lots and lots of wine. In the end he got drunk and fell asleep under a big tree.
He was sleeping soundly when suddenly he saw two people walking towards him. In their hands they held a sheet of paper, and on the paper were three characters: "Sun Wukong". Without a word, they grabbed him and off they went.
After walking a long time, Sun Wukong looked up: ahead of him was a very dark place. This was the Underworld, the place people only come to after they die! He asked: "Why am I here?" The two of them said: "Your time is up. Hurry up and come with us!"
Sun Wukong was furious: "I learned how to live forever long ago. You can't touch me!" He took the golden-hooped staff out of his ear, and in a flash it grew huge. A few blows later, the two of them were lying on the ground, unable to move a muscle.
Staff in hand, Sun Wukong fought his way in, all the way to the biggest hall in the Underworld. The ten Kings of the Underworld were terrified and hurried out to ask: "Who are you?" "I am Sun Wukong of the Water Curtain Cave on Flower Fruit Mountain! Why did you send people to take me away?" The Kings said: "Don't be angry, don't be angry! Lots of people are called Sun Wukong. Maybe they took the wrong one."
"Nonsense! Where's the Book of Life and Death? Hand it over, I want to see for myself!" The Book of Life and Death says how many years each person can live. The Kings didn't dare say no, and at once they brought out several volumes. Sun Wukong searched and searched, and at last he found his own name: "Sun Wukong, a monkey that came out of a stone, can live three hundred and forty-two years."
"Three hundred and forty-two? That's far too few!" He picked up a brush, drew a line through his own name, and crossed it out. Then he found the names of all the other monkeys on Flower Fruit Mountain and crossed them out one by one. He tossed the book aside: "There! From today on, you can never touch us again!" The Kings just stared at him and didn't dare say a thing.
Sun Wukong fought his way back out with his staff. Suddenly he cried out "Ah!" and woke up. The monkeys were beside him, watching him: "Your Majesty, you drank wine and slept all night, and you still haven't woken up!" From then on, the monkeys of Flower Fruit Mountain all lived very, very long lives.
But the Jade Emperor soon heard all about it. First the Dragon King of the East Sea came: "That monkey took my treasure!" Then the Kings of the Underworld came too: "He beat our people and crossed names out of the Book of Life and Death!" The Jade Emperor was angry: "Who will go and catch him?"
The Great White Planet said with a smile: "There's no need to fight him. Let's give him a little job and invite him up to heaven. If he does as we say, good; if he doesn't, it won't be too late to catch him then." The Jade Emperor nodded: "Good, we'll do just that."
When Sun Wukong heard he could go up to heaven and be an official, he was overjoyed. The Jade Emperor made him Keeper of the Heavenly Horses, looking after heaven's horses every day. He got up very early every day and went to bed very late, and he raised the horses tall and fat. He thought his job must be a very, very important one. But he didn't know yet just how big a job Keeper of the Horses really was.
