English (for the teacher)
Seven in the morning, and Wenwen has to go to school. But where’s her book?
“Mum, where’s my book?”
“Is it on the table?”
On the table there’s a cup and a phone, but no book.
“Is it in your school bag?”
In the school bag there’s a bread roll, but no book.
“Is it under the bed?”
Under the bed there are lots of things, but no book either.
Dad has a look in front of the TV, and a look behind the door too. No. It isn’t anywhere.
Half past seven. Wenwen sits on the floor and doesn’t want to talk any more.
She looks under the table. The family’s little dog is asleep there.
“Little dog, get up a moment.”
The little dog gets up. And what’s underneath it? Her book!
Mum laughs: “It isn’t sleeping. It’s studying!”
