English (for the teacher)
Niuniu is seven, nearly eight. She has a little notebook. On the notebook it says: Little Detective Niuniu.
On Monday at noon, Dad bought ten dumplings and put them on the table. Mum called Dad away to help.
A little later, Dad came to eat: “Where are my dumplings? Two are missing!”
Niuniu opened her notebook: “Dad, don’t worry. I’m a little detective!”
She asked Mum. Mum said, “I didn’t eat them, I’m doing the washing.”
She asked Grandpa. Grandpa’s door was shut, and he called from inside, “I didn’t eat them! I’m asleep!”
What about Mimi? Mimi is the family’s big black cat, and she was asleep on the bed.
By Grandpa’s door, Niuniu found a dumpling. A bite was missing, a very, very small bite.
Mimi has a big mouth. Niuniu wrote in her notebook: the dumpling eater has a very small mouth.
Dad looked at Grandpa’s door and smiled: “Never mind, I’m not hungry.”
Dad, not hungry? Dad is hungry every single day!
