English (for the teacher)

School was out, and Yingzi walked home. She saw a little dog following behind her.

When Yingzi walked, the little dog walked too. When Yingzi stopped, the little dog stopped too.

“Hello. Where’s your home?” The little dog looked at her and didn’t say anything.

Yingzi asked the people in the shop, “Is this your dog?” “No.”

She asked the old man at the school gate, “Is this your dog?” The old man laughed. “No. It really likes you, though.”

It was almost six o’clock. Yingzi said, “All right. Come home with me for now.”

When they got to her building, the little dog ran ahead of her. Up on the fifth floor, it sat at the door opposite Yingzi’s home.

The door opened, and an old woman came out. “Where did you go? I’ve been looking for you all afternoon!”

Yingzi asked, “Granny, do you live here?”

“I moved in last week,” the old woman said with a smile. “Every morning he watches you go to school. Today, he wanted to go to school too.”

Yingzi laughed too. The little dog’s home was right across from hers!

The next morning, Yingzi set off for school. The little dog followed her, and the old woman followed the little dog.
