How do you say Merry Christmas in Chinese?
圣诞快乐 (Shèngdàn kuàilè). Christmas is 圣诞节 (Shèngdàn Jié), Christmas Eve 平安夜 (Píng’ān Yè), and Santa 圣诞老人 (Shèngdàn Lǎorén), the old man of Christmas.
Why is 安 on the card?
安 (ān) is peace and safety. Christmas Eve is 平安夜, the peaceful night, from the Chinese words of Silent Night, and in China friends give each other an apple on it, wrapped like a present: 苹果 (píngguǒ, apple) sounds like 平安 (píng’ān, safe and well).
Is Christmas a holiday in China?
Not on the mainland, where 25 December is a working day and Christmas is a night out with friends, with lights, shopping and apples, more than a family day. It is a public holiday in Hong Kong and Macau. 1 January, 元旦, is a holiday everywhere.
Can the card write their name in Chinese?
Yes, for 514 common English names, written as Chinese writes them: David is 大卫 (Dàwèi). For any other name, our Chinese name generator makes one from its sounds.
