What is traditional Chinese clothing called?
汉服 (hànfú, Hanfu) is the traditional dress of the Han Chinese. 旗袍 (qípáo, qipao) is the fitted dress, and 唐装 (tángzhuāng, Tang suit) the jacket with a 立领 (lìlǐng, stand-up collar).
What is the difference between a qipao and a cheongsam?
None: they are the same dress. 旗袍 (qípáo) is the Mandarin name; cheongsam comes from the Cantonese 长衫, which in Mandarin, 长衫 (chángshān, long gown), is a man’s long gown.
What does a Chinese bride wear?
Traditionally red, with 凤冠 (fèngguān, phoenix coronet) and 红盖头 (hónggàitou, red bridal veil). Many brides now also wear 婚纱 (hūnshā, wedding dress).
What is a Mao suit called in Chinese?
中山装 (zhōngshānzhuāng, Zhongshan suit), named after 孙中山 (Sūn Zhōngshān), Sun Yat-sen.
