What do you write in a Chinese wedding card?
百年好合 (bǎinián hǎohé, a hundred years of harmony) and 永结同心 (yǒng jié tóngxīn, hearts joined forever) are the classic four-character wishes, often written together; 新婚快乐 (xīnhūn kuàilè, happy wedding) is the simple one. Sign it 祝 (zhù, wishing) and your name.
How much money goes in a wedding red envelope?
Money is given in a red envelope (红包, hóngbāo), handed over with both hands with 这是我们的一点心意 (a little something from us). People give an even amount, often with 6 or 8 in it, and never one with a 4, since 四 (sì) sounds like 死 (sǐ, death).
How do I say them right?
Press Play and say each phrase with the voice, slow first, then at normal speed. Each word’s pinyin is above it, its tone marked.
Can’t hear it?
Play uses your device’s Mandarin voice. Edge, Chrome and Safari have one; a browser with none plays each word in our recorded voice instead.
