What do you write in a Chinese wedding card?
百年好合 (bǎinián hǎohé, a hundred years of harmony) and 永结同心 (yǒng jié tóngxīn, hearts joined forever) are the classic pair, often written together; 新婚快乐 (xīnhūn kuàilè, happy wedding) is the simple one. Sign it 祝 (zhù, wishing) and your name.
What does 囍 mean?
囍 (shuāngxǐ, double happiness) is two 喜 (xǐ, joy) side by side, the joy of the two who marry and of their families. It is cut from red paper and pasted on doors and windows, and printed on nearly everything at a Chinese wedding.
How much money goes in a wedding red envelope?
Money is given in a red envelope (红包, hóngbāo), handed over with both hands. People give an even amount, often with 6 or 8 in it, and never one with a 4, since 四 (sì) sounds like 死 (sǐ, death). Write your wish and your name on the envelope.
Can the card write their name in Chinese?
Yes, for 514 common English names, written as Chinese writes them: David is 大卫 (Dàwèi). For any other name, our Chinese name generator makes one from its sounds.
