Why are there numbers in Chinese comments?
Numbers said aloud sound like words: 520 (wǔ èr líng) sounds like 我爱你 (wǒ ài nǐ, I love you), and 88 (bā bā) like 拜拜 (bye-bye). They are quicker to type than characters.
What are yyds and xswl?
The first letters of each syllable’s pinyin: yyds is 永远的神 (yǒngyuǎn de shén), xswl is 笑死我了 (xiào sǐ wǒ le). People type them to save time, or to keep a word past a filter.
A number that isn’t slang
A code is found wherever it is written, so 520 in a price is marked too. Read it with the sentence around it.
